I'm a former broadcast journalist who has covered both sports and news during my career. (That's how I met my husband, Jim Thome; I interviewed him on opening day of the MLB season in 1995, and the rest is history.) We have a fourteen-year-old daughter, a nine-year-old son, and two cats that we spoil rotten. I temporarily retired when we had our children, so I could be home with them full-time while they were still young. The loss of my mom almost three years ago was the catalyst for me starting to explore my writing career, which still allows me to remain home with my family. My mom was a writer and poet, and I can't help feeling that she's always near, watching over me proudly.

In my spare time, I love photography and travel, preferably at the same time. My novels are inspired by favorite places I've been, each of which have left vivid footprints on my imagination. I believe a book can be steamy and sexy, while still keeping it classy. I also love to infuse my characters with great senses of humor. I really love to interact with my readers, so please feel free to drop me a note or reach out to me on social media.

For Jim, Lila, Landon, and Dad. Thank you for all your love and support. You are my everything. Being a member of your family is the best job I've ever had.

To my close friends who took the time to read and re-read for me: your friendship is treasured. Lisa, Terri, Kara, Dawn, Shannon, Erin, Paula, and my dear, sweet Mim. I couldn't have done it without your constant support along the way.

To the tireless team at Girl Friday; Christina Henry de Tessan, Meghan Harvey, Courtney Calon, Devon Fredrickson, and Rachel Christenson in particular—every budding author should treat themselves to the leadership you provide. Thank you for making the process of self-publishing so much simpler . . . and even a little fun. An extra special thanks goes to Stefanie Hargreaves and Michelle Hope Anderson for getting my manuscript into tip top shape. You're the best!  Kristin Sheppard at Giant Squid Media—no one knows the ins and outs of social media like you do. Thanks for showing me the ropes.

To Jerry Reinsdorf, Christine O'Reilly, Sheena Quinn and everyone at the Chicago White Sox—thank you for always supporting our family, as friends and employers. I'm forever grateful for the opportunity to host my launch at the ballpark, a place so special to us.

Heather Ann Thomas and Sonia Mani Joseph; I'm so blessed to know two such amazing photographers and women. You are each an inspiration for me as a wannabe shutterbug. I hope I can continue to learn from how you conduct yourselves in front of and behind the lens.

Stephanie Krol at SKPR, and Marissa DeCuir, Angelle Barbazon and Ellen Whitfield at JKS Communications—thank you for your public relations expertise. I'd be lost without you!

And to my Mom. Thank you for the writer’s gene. And for the strong moral compass. And for teaching me about compassion. And for everything.

I miss you.
